Bernice Eker posted:

The most traditional of the guitars is the acoustic guitar. In fact, its nearest relative, the electric guitar was only invented in the 1930’s. The acoustic guitar, as we know it today, has actually been in existence from around 1779. Close relatives to the acoustic guitar such as the oud and the lute have been around for much longer, maybe even thousands of years. Learning to play acoustic guitar will place you in good company.

The most popular guitar type is the acoustic guitar and the musicians favourite being used in unplugged sessions for decades. It is unable to produce a loud sound like the electric guitar, because its sound is not amplified. But in the right hands, an acoustic guitar is a very powerful instrument quite able to provoke emotion.

Learning to play the acoustic guitar is not that hard. Firstly, to learn how to play, you should select the correct acoustic guitar, one that suits you. It must be the right size and weight to allow you to play it comfortably though you should avoid using an instrument belonging to someone else when you learn to play acoustic guitar. You should instead use your own and get to know it properly.

An acoustic guitar should be quite easy to obtain; you can buy them brand new at almost any music store or if you ask at the store you could also probably pick-up a second hand instrument. If you have made arrangements with a music teacher they may be able to help find you a guitar as they often act as an exchange for their students old musical instruments. Again, just be sure it is the right size for you.

Once you have your instrument you can begin to learn to play acoustic guitar, you just have to pick the method which is most convenient for you. The most common ways to learn acoustic guitar are as follows:

Take lessons-The most traditional way to learn acoustic guitar is by paying a qualified music teacher to teach you. The obvious advantage is that you will be tutored one-on-one, they will keep you motivated and make sure you use the proper techniques. And if you get stuck they will be able to help you. A disadvantage is the likely cost involved, music lessons are not cheap, also you have to work the lessons around your busy life and you have to pack up your guitar and drive to the lessons.

Internet-Thanks to modern technology you can find lessons to learn about almost anything, including how to play acoustic guitar. There are free lessons available and lessons to buy. Steer away from the offer of free lessons, they can be a waste of time due to their frequent poor quality, it would be easier to find a good one and pay the money instead of wasting your time.

The advantages are clear. You simply pay a one time fee and receive all the instruction and lessons you need without the need to leave your home, you can also take lessons when it suits you. Of course, there will be no one-on-one instruction, but if you learn to play acoustic guitar from the right source, you will progress reasonably well.

Content provided by Guitar Fly

Fredrik Roaldset posted:

The guitar is possibly the world’s most popular instrument in rock, pop or light western music today. The guitar’s fame is largely owed to Elvis Presley, whose iconic images almost always show him singing with a guitar in his hands. So never mind if your voice doesn’t match Elvis – don’t sing, strum a guitar and make good music!

Acquiring and wrapping your fingers around your own, personal guitar to get its ‘feel’ is always a good idea. We recommend you to go in for a used acoustic guitar. Here’s what, why and how …

Unlike, say, an electric guitar, an acoustic guitar neither needs nor uses any external devices to enhance its sound volume and quality. Remember, guitars are seldom played solo. They’re played along with other, often noisy, instruments. Naturally, if you’re the guitarist you want to be distinctly heard by and be properly audible to the audience. You might not be blasting away like the trumpeter but, nevertheless, you want the melody of the music you’re making to be picked up straight away.

It is to help you fulfill this perfectly legitimate aspiration that we suggest you begin your music-making with not just an acoustic guitar but specifically a used acoustic guitar. Why? Because thanks to its earlier use by another guitarist, whether professional or amateur, the used acoustic guitar is more likely than not to have already ‘found’ its fully formed voice. With the passage of time a wood-based musical instrument like a guitar (or violin, for that matter) sheds the brittleness of its timber and becomes soft and mellowed with the cleaning up and rubbing with oil that comes with its proper maintenance. In a used acoustic guitar somebody else has already done the rubbing up for you! Besides, you’re likely to spend only half the cost of a brand new instrument – so it’s a bargain all the way!

Fine, so where can you find cheap acoustic guitars? To start with, you’ll have to be certain that the acoustic guitar for sale won’t land you conned into buying an instrument you wouldn’t want. Generally, the used guitar could be one of four kinds: old used, new used, refurbished and needs work.

Your best choice would be in finding an old used acoustic guitar for sale that’s ten years old or even older. A new used one would be fewer than five years old. If you’re lucky, you’ll find factory seconds or refurbished guitars on recent models. You must know what you’re buying: Is the neck twisted or bent? Is the neck joint flush to the body of the guitar? (It ought to be so.) Is it plastic or wood? (Wood is definitely better.) Do you have to change the strings? (If so, you can’t test the sound.)

Online, you’ll find great bargains on acoustic guitars for sale of all categories. Look for sellers who have sold acoustic guitars before and have positive feedbacks. So now you know your what, why and how. Happy strumming!

Content provided by Guitar Fly

Victor Epand posted:

When a child wants to learn how to play the guitar, before you think about getting an electric guitar, you should think about the acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars have been a part of the music scene since the guitar was invented, and rock icons have learned the ropes of the musical trade by learning how to play the acoustic guitar.

Unlike its electric cousin, the acoustic guitar has a majesty and elegance to it. When played at a concert or around a camp fire, it has the ability to bring everyone to it through its beautiful sound.

As a result, one of the best, and most popular, types of instruments for a person to learn is the acoustic guitar. However, while they do not cost as much as the electric guitar, they can run a bit pricey and for some families, it is simply better to go with a used acoustic guitar.

When you buy an acoustic guitar, you are buying something that has a spirit to it. Acoustic guitars are magical instruments, and they seem to retain all the people who have ever played them. For many listening to an acoustic guitar is like listening to a spiritual song. It is no wonder they were so popular in the 1960s.

So, rather than spending a lot of money on an electric guitar, or buying a brand new acoustic guitar, you can instead choose to buy an acoustic guitar that is used. Acoustic guitars, which are used, can be found in a variety of places, including online music sites, music stores and pawn shops.

The easiest of those to find the used acoustic guitar you are looking is to simply go to a pawn shop. Often, pawn shops will have a large collection of musical instruments, and more often than not, most of those instruments will be in the form of used acoustic guitars. For whatever reason, people seem to have no problem with selling used guitars when they have to.

As a parent, you will enjoy being able to buy a used acoustic guitar because you will not have to worry that your child will not enjoy it. If they don’t enjoy playing the used acoustic guitar, you just sell it for essentially the same price you paid for it at the pawn shop. This is not something that can be done with new acoustic guitars and you are likely to lose a lot more in the sale.

Used acoustic guitars are wonderful instruments with ample character and soul. As a result, when you buy one you are buying a mystical instrument that your children will enjoy playing, and you did not have to spend too much in order to get the instrument. This means you will not have to worry about a lot of lost money if your child bores of the instrument. With used acoustic guitars, it is a win-win situation all around. So check out eBay.com or your local pawn shop for the acoustic guitar that works for you.

Content provided by Guitar Fly
